Puppy Love at Willow!

if you missed the "puppy love" event at willow last thursday night, it's not too late to still support chicago canine rescue AND local artisans! amy is still collecting donations for the pooches (and kitties!), and the art is still being displayed. belated valentine gift, anyone? woof!

jenn showed her amazing jewelry... damn i wish i could wear earrings...! and she's a huge dog lover, so we bonded instantly...

and lisa had her very cool repurposed leather accessories... i might have to ask for a special-order doggy collar for my birthday in may... *hint hint*

and we had DIY voodoo dogs! woof! some lucky pooches in detroit and chicago are getting some serious love vibes right about now...

our friend, chris kaminski, donated a bunch of awesome spanish wines... 'cuz the ladies love wine... AND chris...!

the good news is if you missed this event, you can still come to the next one on friday, february 26th- a benefit for girls rock chicago! we love girls rock because it helps foster creativity and self-awareness in girls through rock and roll- AWESOME! don't worry, i'll post more deets on that next week. but keep that night open! 6 to 9 p.m.. don't make me beg!

Chicago, I'm Heeeeeeeere!

it's true! shop dog boo has left denver and is now rocking the city of big shoulders- chicago! where's my wiener, people?! or my kielbasa?! argh! *growl* anyway... before we moved, i heard a lot of horror stories about the arctic winter weather... but so far so good! *paws crossed* we're staying in ukrainian village, a sweet and bustling neighborhood on the west side. there are lots of dogs in the 'hood and i make it a habit to sit in the window and bark or growl at every single one walking by. that makes my mom nuts, but... a dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do, you know what i'm sayin'?? in our neighborhood, we are close to a bunch of our friends AND to a couple of our friends' stores! as a matter of fact, i've had the opportunity to be temporary shop dog at willow, a very cool urban mercantile owned by my new friend, amy. amy has her own shop dog named baxter, but i haven't met him yet. maybe today... hmmmm... the customers at willow are all very dog-friendly and hip and cool... and fun! i like being there a lot! and it's not even a block from where my mom and i are staying, which is verrrrrry convenient. i mean, what if we forget my food, or treats, or toys? whew... easy to remedy. ;) and there are lots of familiar places to pee on the way to the shop. i like that.

amy has so much cool stuff at willow! like...

the park planter- complete with flasher and "surprised" passer-by... oops! ha!

and a creamer called "calf and half"- can you tell there's a glass udder suspended inside the pitcher? cleVer.

and teapot talk! a teapot and cups that have chalkboard paint on the sides so you can write little chalk notes... so sweet!

cards, barware, lamps, jewelry, bags, vases... and lots more! amy usually just has an online store, so this willow is just a holiday pop-up and will close at the end of january. everything in the shop is at least 15% off right now, so come and visit! the store is at 850 north damen, just a block and a half north of chicago avenue. and i'll be there THIS saturday, the 16th, from 12 to 6. SEE you at willow! *woof woof!*

Chicago, Here I Come!

it's been pretty slow in shop dog's world... definitely a LOT easier to be a doggy customer when it's warm outside. but i'm about to have a whoooole new world of businesses to explore, because we're hitting the road!

it's true, it's true! i'm moving to chicago on tuesday, and my mom is working on opening our own shop in the spring. we'll be chronicling the journey, so keep your eyes peeled... fun is to be had in the big city... woof!

happy, happy new year! see ya' soon! *lick lick*

My Top Three Celebrity Dog Crushes

i might be a dog, but i'm still a girl! sometimes i just like to curl up in front of the tv with a fresh bowl of water and a bully stick and dream about what life would be like with one of these doggy dreamboats...

snoopy! adorable! an oldie-but-goody! snoopy has been making people happy for years, and he sure loves that gang o' kids. plus he's really sweet with cute little woodstock! i'd imagine that snoopy would make a good husband...

eddie from "frasier". what a cutie! so much energy! woof! he's such a feisty little prankster, too, and i love that he steals every scene he's in. he's also a good, loyal companion, which is a great quality in anyone. *sigh*

and (drum roll, please!) my number one crush: brian from family guy. i love him because- like me- he thinks he's human, but he acts like a dog when it's necessary (i.e. around other dogs). and i love smart, funny men. err, dogs. men. dogs. ???

excuse me, i need to go wash my hair...

A Day in the Life of a Shop Dog

being the "doggy in the window"...

sometimes i lay in strange positions... but they are very comfortable to me...

me and hula hoop expert, krystal, and her bike expert boyfriend, zach. they are awesome.

this is me and joanne, a reiki master. she has good vibes.

me and santos, a regular customer... and very handsome boy.

being the shop dog at moondance is pretty simple. i need to be well-behaved, cute, and attentive to customers when they seem like they want some boo love. right? right. between customers, i do a lot of napping. and sitting in the window watching the other dogs walk by. and sitting in the doorway, ready to greet the ups man. one time a lady left the door wide open right when a dog was walking by and i got so excited that i ran right out and ended up in the middle of the traffic on 6th avenue. uh oh. the nice man scooped me up and took me to safety, but not before my mom's heart stopped. oops. now we have a sign on the door asking people to be careful when opening AND closing the door. it's not that i'm a bad dog, i just get really excited!

anyway, the next time you're at 6th and corona, stop in to moondance and say hi!
